A bit of a bird emergency this morning. Craig took our younger dog, Dan, upstairs with him during his shower. Dan likes to bark and annoy Sunny. As he was stepping in to the shower, he heard Sunny shrieking and Bailey barking. (Bailey doesn’t bark much) He came down to find Sunny on the floor, feathers flying and Bailey cowering on the floor. Evidently, he got ahold of her and she pecked him. Both animals were monitored all day to see if a vet visit was in order, but all is well.
We now close the cage door before we head to the second floor. I doubt Bailey will do that again!

Our retreat was held at a girl’s camp up in the mountains. We cross this bridge to get from the sleeping lodge to the dining hall, where we crop. The short walk helps work off some of the great camp food!

Friday noon found us at Big Jim’s barbecue. The pulled pork was darn near as good as my husband’s. We had fried pickles and were amused to watch Cyndi explore this southern delicacy. No fried pickles in Ontario, where she’s from!

It’s retreat time again! These are two of my favorite people, Cyndi and Cathryn. Cathryn was my roomie this time and we do so well together!

Aaron and I love to watch The Middle on Wednesday nights. Somehow our family isn’t such a train wreck compared to the Heck Family!

My brother, Randy and his wife, Kathy and daughter Kara came to visit for the weekend. We took advantage of a beautiful day and had a picnic.

Constant battle in this house and I tend to be the most guilty. I hate having tables covered with stuff. Our dining room table is in the front part of the house and I’m constantly clearing it off!

Aaron earns his brown belt, level 2. The young lady in the picture just got her level 1 brown belt. Whenever Aaron spars with her, we have to encourage him to hit her. He’s been taught not to hit girls!

Biggest Loser snack for today. Every week I make a snack and then post the photo on FB. There’s something about watching The Biggest Loser that makes me hungry! What you don’t see here? The Jazzercise class from earlier in the day. I burned about 600 calories- I can afford to eat like this!
Note: I omitted the pecans for my kids. We don’t do nuts in this family! This recipe came from an on-line friend who fixes meals for the cowboys on her ranch. They eat this with breakfast!
Honey Bun Cake
1 yellow cake mix, open the box and reserve 1/2 C for the topping
1 C butter, softened
4 eggs
8 oz sour cream
1/4 C milk
1/2 C. br. sugar
1/2 C chopped pecans
2 t cinnamon
1 C powdered sugar
1 t vanilla
1 T milk
Reserve 1/2 C dry cake mix. Mix the rest of the mix with butter, eggs, milk and sour cream. Pour 1/2 of the mixture in to a 9 by 13 inch greased pan. In a small bowl, mix the pecans, brown sugar, cinnamon and reserved cake mix. Sprinkle this over the cake mixture in the pan. Bake at 350 for 35 minutes. (40 if using a stoneware rectangle baker) Poke holes in the warm cake with a fork and spread with a glaze made from the powdered sugar, vanilla and milk.

The dryer has been taking forever to dry clothes. A little DIY vent cleaning here. It really helped. I’m glad we haven’t had a fire!
