“Y” is for egg yolk.

We’ve been doing one handprint craft for each letter of the alphabet with our pre-k kids. I wanted to make things that they could identify with. None of them had ever seen a yak. (Neither have I, for that matter) I was cleaning out our play kitchen and had an epiphany. In the play food was a fried egg! Here’s what I came up with.

IMG_1231 Egg yolks!

IMG_1228 First I painted their palms. Can you see my fingers holding his hand open? My thumb is actually holding his thumb. This child is not tactile sensitive, but some of mine are. This keeps them from closing the hand and getting paint where you don’t want it. We printed the white and then the yellow.

The yolk was made by having the child close his/her hand into a fist and printing with that.

After the eggs dried, I outlined a pan with a silver sharpie and the kids cut them out. We attached the handle with brads. Next week? Z is for zebra.

A fresh manicure. I can tell I’ve been wiping noses a lot at work. My hands are raw from washing and hanitizer.

Happy Birthday to me! Logan made my cake and dinner as well. I also enjoyed a monster glass of Los Allamos Malbec.

Time for the weekly grocery shop. I’ve been using some of the recipes that I pin from Pinterest. This week we’re doing a Pizza casserole, chicken noodle stir fry, a baked chicken recipe and a greek meatball with  Tzatziki sauce.

This is the recipe I’m fixing for Pampered Chef shows right now.  A tortellini soup and parmesan garlic biscuit bites. So healthy and yummy!

The chaise lounge is now in the family room. All of the animals, including Sunny like to pile in the chair with me. The sun was beautiful shining through the window.

We celebrated the 100th day of school today. The kids made a snack out of 100 pieces of trail mix. They also enjoyed painting with their hands- 100 fingers!

It seems that Aaron is caught on film more than Max and Logan. I’ll have to work on this!

Logan and I were sitting at Starbucks when I spy Super Heroes coming across the parking lot. If there’s an emergency, we’re safe here!

12 of 12 is tomorrow!

For those of you who are new to it, the original concept started here.  Then, my friend, Susan picked it up here. Then, Cathy Zielske picked it up here. Then it moved here.

I’ve been doing 12 of 12 since 2006. So…….tomorrow is the 1st 12 of 12 for January. Susan is at CHA, should be a fun one for her. We’ll be running all over town taking care of this and that. If you want to play along, take 12  photos of your daily life tomorrow. Include a self portrait. Also, if you want to join the Facebook group, you can find it here. Come join us!

Aaron’s grades on the left and Max’s on the right. Both kids with advanced classes. So proud of my brainy boys!

Aaron has switched in to the adult class for TaeKwonDo. He takes a class a few nights a week and does  a strength and conditioning class a few nights as well. He’s really getting in to good shape. (and learning to get his rear end out of the air while doing planks!)

I slipped out of my classroom during rest time, leaving my teaching partner watching over our Blessings. As the Keurig chugged out my coffee, I was reminded how fortunate I am to smell that coffee smell. My favorite cup, a good smell and my Blessings in the other room. All was right with the world right that minute.

I was eating  a piece of gluten free bread with cheese and mayo. Sunny wanted me to share the bread crusts with her. We soon had a mess and a rather full bird!

Sometimes a gluten free diet really sucks. I open the fridge or the pantry and I can eat very little that is inside. I go to a party and can eat nothing on the table. I’m so happy to have products like Chex. Live in the Yes! indeed.

Project Life Templates for Storybook Creator

I am doing Project Life digitally this year. I use the Storybook Creator (SBC)  Software made by Creative Memories for Digi-Scrapping. I wanted software that had slight learning curve, not a steep one! I couldn’t find SBC templates for the different Project Life page styles, so I made my own. To use these, download them from the dropbox link. Import them in to your Project Life book within your software. To start a new page, click on the template you want to use. Using “Control A”, select all of the items on the page.  Copy the items. Go to a clean page and hit “Control V” to paste the items to your page. Now click and fill!  Please leave me a note if you download, Happy Project Life.
Templates for SBC, version 4.0 are here. Linky

Saturday brought an open house at Marta’s house. All of the new 31 product is out and I offered to make the snacks Pampered Chef style.  I made dips out of the chili lime rub and the dill rub, using mayo and sour cream. Then I made a lava cake in the microwave. Catherine and Cyndi were able to be there as well. It was a nice break before school starts.

Overheard in the kitchen tonight, “Mom, delete that photo----brotherly love doesn’t exist!”

Finally getting Max’s room finished. Logan is taller than I am, so he was able to cut in and paint near the 14 foot ceiling with a tall ladder. So glad to finally have this done!

Starting the year with a totally candid photo. One of the kids picked up the camera. Evidently it was a lazy, bad hair day. Please note the ball cap and yoga pants.
