A very well placed sign on the way home from Jazzercise. (also really good advice!)

The hallway outside Aaron’s bedroom. Do you think we are well protected in the event of a Nerf attack?

I just finished this book. I love Jodi Picoult. This one is about a boy with Asperger’s. (a form of Autism) Here’s my favorite quote from the book. (from page 156)

“ Real mothers don’t just listen with humble embarrassment to the elderly lady who offers unsolicited advice in the checkout line when a child is throwing a tantrum. We take the child, dump him in the lady’s cart and say “Great, Maybe you can do a better job.” Real mothers know that it’s okay to eat cold pizza for breakfast. Real mothers admit it is easier to fail at this job than to succeed.

If parenting is the box of raisin bran, then real mothers know the ratio of flakes to fun is severely imbalanced. For every moment that your child confides in you, or tells you he loves you, or does something unprompted to protect his brother that you happen to witness, there are many more moments of chaos, error, and self-doubt.

Real mothers may not speak the heresy, but they sometimes secretly wish they’d chosen something for breakfast other than this endless cereal.

Real mothers worry that other mothers will find that magic ring, whereas they’ll be looking and looking for ages.

Rest easy, real mothers. The very fact that you worry about being a good mom means that you already are one.

Another “max-taken” photo of Dan the dog. He SO needs a hair cut!

Kid trend of the day: silly bands. These are rubber bands shaped like animals, etc. The kids trade them. Aaron seems to really want the ones that glow in the dark.

I think all of the travelling and an on-coming head cold got the best of me. Max shot this photo.

New Jersey’s finest: pork roll, cheese,  and egg on a  toasted bagel. Sharon and I went out for breakfast before I flew home.

Judy enjoyed just a “wee bit o the mist” this evening. Just a wee bit?

Julie brought us this love chocolate wine. Great for sipping while you scrap.

Something tells me that Sharon won’t be too fond of this photo, but it’s much better than some of the others I took. This is one of my BFF’s.

Ah, the joys of girlfriend time. Lisa offered to make me back into a blonde. We ended up with strawberry, but it’s all good.

My computer bag, getting ready to leave for a retreat. I guess the only downside to this one is it gets heavy when I fill it up!

Time to mow. Again. The mower was acting funny so we had lawn mower maintenance 101.

I love this tree and pass it a few times each week. It was hard to photograph with the power lines there. I am too lazy to photoshop them out right now.

We spent a delightful evening with neighbors tonight, it was a bit chilly so they had the fire pit going.

The yellow stuff on the ground is not spilled paint. It is not chalk left there by a child. That, my friends, is pollen. (a choo!) The pollen count was OVER 5000!

My Dad gave me a cooking lesson tonight. He made salisbury steak and gravy in the pan on the right and I made it at the same time in the pan on the left!

I have a love/hate relationship with this couch. It was a hand me down. It was brand new when we got it. (both good things) It has a nice shape and it fits the room well. It’s ugly. We cover it with a sheet so I can wash the dog hair away. The blanket on top? An afghan that belonged to my mom. Also ugly. Both items have history and will be staying for awhile.

At some point, I have my eye on the couch below. I haven’t found it at a price I’m willing to pay. Yet. Down side? The dog likes to sit on the back of the couch. I’m not sure he’ll fit on these cushions!

I’m also liking this one. Beautiful color, it has a chaise lounge on one end. Love me a chaise lounge.

And this one. Leather, easy to clean. Lovely chocolate color. No chaise though.

And while we’re at it…………..loving these.

I need new bar stools in my kitchen. These require no cushions. They are red and easily cleaned. I want them.

I’ll post some more photos tomorrow, but we took the kids to the aquarium today. This was shot from the back seat. Kid perspective is fantastic, isn’t it?
